Partners expand Clearwater resource

Quebec government-owned Soquem and equal partner Eastmain Resources (ER-T) have increased the resource at the Clearwater project’s Eau Claire gold zone in Quebec’s James Bay region.

Thanks to two recently intersected gold-bearing structures, the figure has risen to 957,625 tonnes grading 10.9 grams gold per tonne (305,000 contained ounces), up from the previous estimate of 800,000 tonnes at 11.7 grams. The deposit remains open to the northwest and at depth. Hole 43 intersected 4.8 metres (from 146 metres) grading 6.77 grams gold, while hole 44, collared 100 metres west of hole 43, cut a second gold-bearing structure, grading 7.09 grams across 3.2 metres (from 70.2 metres).

Drilling is to resume in 1999.
