A second phase of drilling on the Intidougou gold project in western Burkina Faso is returning encouraging results for equal partners Orezone Resources (ORZ-M) and Geomaque Explorations (GEO-T).
The program, which tested a previously identified saprolitic zone, consisted of more than 1,900 metres of reverse-Circulation (RC) drilling in 52 holes. Results from the latest program, along with previous drilling and trenching, have outlined the zone along a 250-Metre length, a 62-Metre width and down to a depth of 62 metres. Based on the latest results, the partners have calculated an average grade of 1.8 grams gold per tonne for the zone.
Significant results from the zone include: hole 97-97, which averaged 4 grams gold over 22 metres (starting from surface), including 6.4 grams gold over 10 metres (from 10 to 20 metres); hole 97-82, which returned 4.1 grams gold over 22 metres (from 2 to 24 metres), of which the first 6 metres graded 6.1 grams gold; hole 97-80, which intersected 3.6 grams gold over 24 metres (from 4 to 28 metres), including 8 grams gold over 6 metres (from 12 to 18 metres); and hole 97-87, which averaged 1.6 grams gold over 18 metres (starting from surface), including 3.6 grams gold over 2 metres (from 6 to 8 metres).
In addition, hole 97-86 penetrated the underlying bedrock and averaged 3 grams gold over 20 metres (from 14 to 34 metres), with the last core sample ending in mineralization and grading 3.1 grams gold. Included in the zone was a 4-Metre interval (from 20 to 24 metres), which graded 5.6 grams gold. Four other holes also intersected bedrock, of which the best interval came from hole 97-75. That hole intersected 12 metres (from 22 to 34 metres) of 2.7 grams gold, including a 2-Metre (from 22 to 24 metres) interval grading 10 grams gold.
In light of the new bedrock results, the company said it will now focus on four other hard-rock targets identified in the immediate area. Future programs will include diamond and RC drilling, along with regional soil sampling and geophysical surveys.
