PDAC to focus on hot spots

The annual convention of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, slated for March 10-13, 2002, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, will feature a keynote session on exploration hot spots and regional developments around the world.

Also, a 3-day forum will offer information about companies and mining plays. Companies will make presentations and a panel of industry analysts will share their views on the commodities they cover. The core shack, always a popular feature, will also be on display.

Mines ministers meet in Toronto

A mines ministers forum, representing countries from around the world, is slated for March 13-15, 2002, in Toronto.

Representatives of the mining industry, indigenous peoples and non-governmental organizations will also participate.

Energy crisis tops NWMA agenda

The U.S. energy crisis will be addressed by the Northwest Mining Association at its 107th annual meeting, slated for Dec. 3-7 in Spokane, Wash.

Other topics on the agenda include diamonds, platinum group metals, international mining, and environmental affairs, and a special session will focus on coal, methane, hardrock and industrial minerals.

The event will unfold at the Spokane Convention Center.

Tour highlights Perth conference

Those attending the New Generation Gold Mines Conference from Nov. 26 to 27 in Perth will have the option of touring various mines in Western Australia.

The week-long excursion will include the Cadia Hill, Ridgeway and Mt. Rawdon operations, among others.

The cost of the trip is not included in the conference, which will take place at the Burswood Resort Convention Centre.

Grand Duke to open forum

Henri, the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, will open the International Iron and Steel Institute World Conference on the use of steel in sustainable construction, scheduled for May 15-17, 2002, at the Congres in Luxembourg City.

The conference will bring together international experts from the construction sector.
