PEOPLE PROFCO RESOURCES — Anna Nyarady appointed president

American Barrick Resources President Robert Smith was named chairman of the Gold Institute for 1991 at the association’s recent annual meeting in Amelia Island Plantation in Florida. Smith succeeds Fraser Fell, chairman of Placer Dome, as chairman of the 80-member association. He has already served as a director of the institute and chairman of the membership committee.

After a 2-year term as chairman of the Gold Institute, Fell has been appointed chairman of the World Gold Council, a Geneva, Switzerland-based organization formed in 1986 to promote gold.

The Gold Institute was founded in 1976 to promote common business interests of the gold mining industry by providing members drawn from 14 nations with statistical data and other relevant information. The institute also provides information on gold to the media and public, and acts as an industry spokesman.
