Platinova beefs up zinc play

This year’s drill program at the Peary Land zinc property in northeastern Greenland has added 7 km to the previously indicated 3-km trend of zinc mineralization.

Platinova A/S (TSE) carried out its 34-hole, 12,000-metre drill program in August. The Esrum and West showing areas were tested, and although only a few assays have been returned, indications are that grades will be similar to those found during the 1994 program (from which a geological resource of 20 million tonnes grading 8% zinc and 1% lead was outlined).

In light of the large extent of mineralization, Platinova is planning additional drilling in 1996, using closely spaced holes to define the limits of mineralization and locate any high-grade zones.

On the other side of the island, Cartaway Container will earn a half interest in Platinova’s West Greenland nickel-copper property by spending $2 million.

This property contains numerous gossan zones that appear to be similar to those found in the Voisey Bay area of Labrador, just across the Labrador Sea. Ground geophysical followup work is planned.
