Cleaning the sludge out of underground sumps is made easier with a new loader from Geho Pumps of the Netherlands.
The GSL 1 is crawler-mounted and electro-hydraulic. It can handle sludge with solids concentrations of up to 70% and particle sizes of up to 40 mm at a rate of 14 cu m per hour.
Sludge is loaded with a bucket. At the end of the bucket, a transverse- mounted augerscrew forces the sludge to the miccle of the bucket where the suction opening of a Geho high- pressure piston pump is situated. The pump transfers the viscous material to a discharge point.
