The industrial minerals industry in British Columbia will receive promotional help from the provincial government.
“British Columbia produces about 20 different industrial minerals and could produce about 20 more,” Mines Minister Anne Edwards said at a conference on environmental applications of industrial minerals.
“There is great potential for growth as new materials and new technologies create opportunities in all parts of the province. We want investors, producers, marketers and consumers to go for it.”
Among the efforts planned are public meetings in different communities with owners, developers, investors and economic development interests. Also on the agenda are conferences in Vancouver and a trade and fact-finding mission to Korea and Japan.
