Property owners should be wary

With regard to your article on a gold prospect at Dikili (the correct spelling should be “Dikeli”) on western Asia Minor (Turkey) by Metall Mining (T.N.M., May 6/91), I would caution the property owners with regard to mineral ownership.

That part of the world was acquired by aggression not long after being granted by an international treaty to another country (a situation similar to Iraq’s aggression on Kuwait, but earlier this century).

Documentation on original mineral ownership on that area still exists and considering Turkey’s application to join the European Community, items such as mineral ownership will come under review for compensation, especially if mineral production has taken place. The same will apply on properties acquired on the Pontus area.
