A new resource estimate on the Pumpkin Hollow copper deposit east of Yerington, Nev., shows a significant increase in the project’s copper resource.
Owner Nevada Copper (NCU-T) commissioned consulting firm Tetra Tech MM to calculate the resource, which clocks in at 343 million tonnes, measured and indicated, at grades of 0.58% copper, 0.06 gram gold and 2.4 grams silver per tonne. There is an inferred resource of a further 438 million tonnes at grades of 0.45% copper, 0.05 gram gold and 2.2 grams silver per tonne.
The estimate has a cutoff grade of 0.2% copper and is based on 455 drill holes with about 200,000 metres of drilling. Results from nine holes in a recent 37-hole drill program did not make it into the resource calculation, as assays are still pending.
The new resource includes 41.6 million tonnes grading 1.46% copper in two deposits, East and E2, where the consultants used a cutoff grade of 0.75% copper.
Newly calculated for the project, a second estimate puts the size of the magnetite skarn deposit at Pumpkin Hollow at 191 million tonnes runnng 28% iron and 0.28% copper. The inferred iron resource is 465 million tonnes at grades of 19.6% iron and 0.232% copper. All those resources are in the deposit’s near-surface North and South zones.
