Quebec creates research group

Quebec’s Ministry of Natural Resources has joined with several mining companies to create Corem, a mineral research consortium related to the government’s Centre de recherche minerale (CRM) in Ste-Foy.

Industry partners in Corem include: Agnico-Eagle Mines; Barrick Gold; Cambior; Canadian Salt Co.; Falconbridge; Inmet Mining; Iron Ore Co. of Canada; McWatters Mining; Noranda; QIT-Fer et Titane; and Quebec-Cartier Mining.

Corem will now carry out CRM’s primary research into mineralogy, assaying, processing and environmental management.
