R.I.P.

The Northern Miner Magazine was born in 1986. From the beginning it was an outstanding success. Both readers and advertisers were drawn to the publication because of its lively mix of featurish-type, semi-technical articles and its columns and columnists (Karl J.C. Harries on Law, Pam Phillips on Core Shack, Bill Stanley on Managing). This editorial mix, plus its top-flight graphics treatment, allowed it to carve a niche in Canadian mining publications that stands as a tribute to founding publisher John Cooke and founding editor Kerry Knoll.

It is with profound regret, therefore, that I must toll the bell and declare this issue of **The Northern Miner Magazine** the last issue. As much as anything else the current recession in Canadian mining contributed to this unfortunate turn of events.

However, it won’t disappear entirely. Many of its editorial features, such as “Canada’s Top 40 Mining Companies,” “Capital Expenditures Survey,” and “The Billion Dollar Triangle” will be featured in our sister publication Canadian Mining Journal.
