R.S. Jones was renowned engineer

R. Stewart Jones, P.Eng., A.C.S.M., was tragically killed in a car accident on July 3, in Toquepala, Peru. He was 46.

Jones was the chief plant engineer, area engineer and chief mining engineer during his five years with Southern Peru Copper. He was also well-known in the Canadian and U.S. mining communities. During his 20-year mining career in Canada, he worked for Granduc Mines, Cominco, Fording Coal, Luscar-Sterco and Denison Mines. He also operated his own consulting engineering company. Jones is survived by wife Anita, daughters Gwynneth, Sarah and Bethany, and by his parents.
