A New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) seat sold recently for a record US$555,000.
The futures exchange trades oil and gas and platinum and palladium contracts.
Meanwhile, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in the U.S. has approved the merger of Nymex with
the Commodity Exchange (Comex) of New York. The merger, approved by the memberships of both exchanges in April, sees Comex become a wholly owned subsidiary of Nymex.
