Mongolia-focused mineral company Red Hill Energy (RH-V, RHFFF-O) has hired Minarco-Mine- Consult of Sydney, Australia, to produce a prefeasibility study for the company’s Ulaan Ovoo coal project in northern Mongolia.
The study will examine geology, mining engineering, transportation, infrastructure, hydrology, economics and the environmental impact of development. The report is expected to be completed by October.
Minarco, part of the Runge Group of companies, is a well known international consulting and engineering firm with experience with coal projects and in Mongolia.
Minarco will prepare a study outlining detailed mine plans for each year of operation, including plans to expand rail transportation and the associated costs.
The Mongolian government has granted a 30-year mining licence at Ulaan Ovoo, with a potential 40-year extension option. The project is located 17 km south of the Russian/Mongolian border within 120 km of Russia and Mongolia’s main railroads.
