Two awards were recently given to Les Entreprises Minieres Redpath Limitee for safety performance. The Secoroc Trophy is for the lowest accident frequency (1.2) among mining contractors operating in Quebec. The accident frequency indicates the number of lost time injuries for every 200,000 hours worked by employees of a company.
The Explonor Trophy is for Redpath’s best improvement of accident frequency over the previous year (1.2 in 1989 compared with 9.7 in 1988).
Last year in Quebec, the average accident frequency of all mining contractors was 9.6, and the average accident frequency of the mining sector was 10.2.
