The advanced use of geostatistics in the evaluation of ore reserves will be taught in a 5-day course in Reno, Nev.
The event, which runs from Sept. 23-37, is expected to address several topics, including the theory and practice of kriging, 3-dimensional variography as a fundamental tool of mining geostatistics, and evaluating recoverable reserves using non-linear geostatistics.
Dr. Jacques Deraisme, technical manager of Geovariances of France, will provide instruction to mine and exploration geologists, and to mining engineers and managers involved in feasibility studies and mining plans. Participants should have a sound understanding of linear geostatistical techniques.
The course is co-sponsored by Geovariances and Reno-based Gemcom (USA).
