The outlook for the Santa Anna gold deposit in northwestern Quebec looks increasingly rosy as drilling continues.
Altavista Mines (AIA-M), owner of the project, recently hit 111 intersections grading more than 1.4 grams gold per tonne. A preliminary evaluation indicates a commercial cutoff grade of 1.4 grams gold for an open-pit operation with on-site milling.
The most significant intersection was 1.4 metres of 13.39 grams gold in hole 81. Others include: 3 metres of 6.67 grams; 5.3 metres of 5.28 grams; 3.4 metres of 3.92 grams; 1.4 metres of 6.71 grams; 1.2 metres of 6.4 grams; and 1.5 metres of 3.74 grams.
The deposit is found in quartz veins within a granite measuring 1,000 by 400 metres. An interpretation of previous geophysical surveys indicates new zones lie to the north of the intrusive body.
Altavista plans to drill 10 holes to test the western extension of the zone, as well as new targets to the north. The company is midway through an 11,000-metre drill program it expects to complete by mid-October.
