Results “not conclusive” on Cons TVS platinum bet

The first results are out on the diamond drilling program on the South American platinum bet controlled by a Consolidated TVX Mining Corp. company called CNM.

Though TVX President Ian W. Telfer says assay results have been received for seven of the eight holes completed so far, he fails to provide the concrete results.

The only information he does provide is that in six of the seven holes assayed every sample “contained significant background values of platinum and palladium and five of the seven holes intersected high grade zones between three and 10 metres thick.”

Mr Telfer goes on to say that “these zones contained values consistent with surface sampling carried out by RTZ Mineracao (operator of the project) in July, 1986.” Yet he does not mention what those values are.

“These results, while not conclusive, indicate that mineralization continues to a considerable depth over the width of the outcrop,” he says. This drilling took place in November and December. RTZM completed a lin e comprised of eight holes along the eastern edge of the 700 m width of the exposed ultramafic outcrop. Each hole was drilled to a depth of at least 50 m and samples were taken in each m section of the recovered core. All samples were sent to South Africa for analysis, explains Mr Telfer.

Drilling is scheduled to resume this month with a series of 28 drill holes covering the entire extent of the outcrop. This phase of drilling is expected to take four months.

During this period, RTZM also plans to carry out regional reconnaissance of the entire 75,000 acre concession in an effort to outline additional ultramafic outcrops on the property.
