Recent drilling has shed new light on the geology of El Valle, a gold project in northern Spain.
Toronto-listed Rio Narcea Gold Mines now believes the Northern Block and West Breccia zones are connected.
The conclusion was arrived at following the drilling of hole Val 52, which intersected 8.52 grams gold per tonne over 25.5 metres.
Meanwhile, at the nearby Boinas project, holes Boi 32 and Boi 34 intersected oxide mineralization in both the upper and lower breccia units adjacent to the Boinas intrusive.
Boi 32 hit 6.6 grams over 8.7 metres in the upper breccia, and 2.5 grams over 25.3 metres in the lower. Boi 34, situated 120 metres southwest of Boi 32, had two high-grade intercepts, including 6.8 grams over 21.6 metres. In addition, exploration drilling is being carried out on the 500-metre strike length that separates the El Valle and Boinas projects. This area, known as Boinas West, returned an intersection of 7.2 grams over 24.5 metres within a strongly oxidized jasperoid breccia. A second hole is being drilled there.
