The discovery of a number of gold and base metal showings in northwestern Quebec is prompting explorers to call on the provincial government to build more roads throughout the region. Juniors and prospectors are optimistic about the significance of three newly discovered mineral belts near Bachelor and Chibougamau Lakes, north of the C.N Transcontinental Railway, but claim that they can be explored and developed only if year-round access roads are built. One such road, to the burgeoning mining town of Chibougamau, is completed.
