Royal Oak working on Maylac property

A dewatering program is under way at the Maylac property held by Royal Oak Resources. Located three miles north of Geraldton, Ont., the Maylac mine saw limited production in 1958 producing 1,520 tons of ore grading 0.53 oz gold per ton.

Upon dewatering the 425-ft shaft and four underground levels, Royal Oak will start a sampling and mapping program designed to evaluate the property’s potential for stratabound mineralized zones. Surface drilling is also planned for an area south of the shaft. The work is expected to begin before the end of February, the company says.

At Caviar Lake, 34 miles southeast of Kenora, Ont., the company is conducting an airborne geophysical survey. Ground work will include linecutting and prospecting this spring.
