Royal Roads (RRO-V) has cut significant base and precious metals at its 160-sq.-km Tulks North project, 17 km southwest of Millertown, in west-central Newfoundland.
Drilling is highlighted by hole 6, which cut 11 metres (7 metres true width) grading 7.4% zinc, 3.75%lead, 0.47% copper, 137 grams silver and 0.48 gram gold per tonne. This intersection included 0.6-metre (core-length) grading 26.4% zinc, 16.5% lead, 0.8% copper, 558 grams silver and 0.75 gram gold per tonne, in addition to a 1-metre intercept grading 14% zinc, 1.2% lead, 1.2% copper, 168 grams silver and 1.17 grams gold per tonne.
The intersection was in the Central zone of Daniel’s Pond, where previous drilling has not cut as high grade. Six holes were drilled over a 700-metre strike in the Daniel’s Pond volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit.
Another hole cut 12.3 metres (7.9 metres true width), which graded 2.8% zinc, 1.8% lead, 0.14% copper, 102 grams silver and 0.49 gram gold per tonne. This interval graded 9.5% zinc, 6.1% lead, 0.59% copper, 198 grams silver and 0.88 gram gold per tonne over 0.8 metre and also contained a 1.6-metre intercept grading 7.6% zinc, 5.1% lead, 0.15% copper, 514 grams silver and 0.45 gram gold per tonne.
Four of the holes cut intervals from 0.3-9 metres wide (true width) grading 0.9-6.3% zinc, 0.03-3.2% lead, 0.01-0.4% copper, 3.7-147 grams silver and 0.06-1.52 grams gold per tonne. Several holes cut more than one high grade interval.
Last year, the Daniel’s Pond deposit was estimated to contain an inferred resource of 1.8 million tonnes grading 6.74% zinc, 3.58% lead, 0.41% copper, 162 grams silver and 0.5 gram gold per tonne.
Subsequent to this drilling two more holes will target the Central zone and a new resource will be calculated.
Drilling is testing a geochemical anomaly at the Daniel’s Pond extension, 5 km along strike from Daniel’s Pond.
Noranda (NRD-T) holds a 1.5% net smelter royalty on several claims covering the property, and a 50% buy-back option.
One hole tested a zinc soil anomaly on the Harbour Round claims. The hole cut a number of zinc-rich intervals including 1.2 metres (0.8 metre true width) grading 0.89% zinc, 0.25% copper and 1.6 grams silver per tonne, as well as a 0.27-metre core-length grading 3.1% zinc, 0.37% copper and 3.2 grams silver per tonne.
