RTZ acquires talc operations of Cyprus Min.

The talc business of Cyprus Minerals (NYSE) has been purchased by RTZ (NYSE) of London.

The Cyprus talc mines are primarily in the U.S. The deal also includes talc processing plants in the U.S., Spain and Belgium, and an interest in a talc processing operation in Japan.

RTZ will integrate the new business with its existing talc operation, Talc de Luzenac; in North America, the RTZ talc operation will be known as Luzenac America.

Talc is an industrial mineral with application mainly as a filler in paper, paint and plastics.
