Sabina expands Hackett River resource

Sabina Resources (SBB-V) has intersected significant base and precious metals mineralization at the Hackett River property in Nunavut.

Highlights from 17 holes include one hole that hit four mineralized zones within a 138.5-metre interval that grades 1.25% copper and 22.2 grams silver per tonne. This includes 4.75 metres of 3.7% copper and 174.5 grams silver, plus a separate, 9.5-metre zone that grades 1.2% copper, 0.83% lead, 4.1% zinc, 77.9 grams silver, and 0.6 gram gold. This hole tested the updip potential of the Copper zone, which is parallel with the West Limb “A” zone. Several holes tested extensions to other known zones.

Eight holes tested the Knob Hill zone, where previoulsy only two holes had been drilled. One hole intersected a 9.2-metre intercept of 3% lead, 10.5% zinc and 310.7 grams silver per tonne, while another cut 5.5 metres of 3.67% copper, 10.48% zinc and 496 grams silver.

The sulphide horizon dips about 55 to the southwest and varies in width. Other holes in this zone cut 1-4.3 metres grading from 0.1-1.8% lead, 0.23-12.1% zinc, 19-561 grams silver, and 0.02-1.5 grams gold.

The holes tested the zone along strike for about 250 metres. Knob Hill is believed to join the East Cleaver Lake zone at depth. The East Cleaver Lake zone was tested with four holes along the northern edge of the known resource.

Three of these were drilled in a fan that tested the deposit at depths of 130-230 metres. The holes cut 1.25-3.8-metre intercepts that graded 0.02-2.7% copper, 0.01-1.24% lead, 0.24-9.13% zinc, 7.6-125 grams silver, and up to 19 grams gold.

Hole 20 hit four mineralized zones, highlighted by 15 metres that graded 0.5% copper, 4.7% lead, 0.3% zinc, 1,471 grams silver and 11.4 grams gold.

The West Limb “A” zone (also knowns as the Main Camp Lake zone) was tested to the south and downdip of previous drilling. Mineralization includes 16.8 metres grading 1% lead, 7.9% zinc and 142 grams silver, including 5 metres of 18.5% zinc and 30 grams silver per tonne. Another hole intersected 10.5 metres grading 8.6% zinc and 142 grams silver.

One hole that tested a geophysical anomaly failed to cut significant sulphides. Assays from another 25 holes are pending. In all holes, true width is estimated to be 80-100% of the down-hole width.

Previous estimates indicate that both the East Cleaver Lake and West Limb “A” zones are rich in zinc (6.8-12.8%) and silver (160-231 grams per tonne). The zones vary in size from 4 million to 4.6 million tonnes.

Sulphide mineralization is found in volcanic and metasedimentary rocks belonging to the Hackett River group.

The 71.4-sq.-km property comprises three mining leases and one surface lease, 480 km northeast of Yellowknife, N.W.T., and 75 km southeast of Bathurst Inlet.

Sabina optioned the property from Teck Cominco (TEK-T). Sabina is earning a 100% interest by spending $7 million on exploration by the end of 2008. The agreement is subject to certain buy-back and royalty provisions.
