Shallow drill-testing of the South Elena vein structure in Cuba has returned encouraging results, reports CaribGold Resources (CG-T).
Although core recovery from the program was poor as a result of surface weathering, CaribGold intersected mineralization in all four holes, including: 7 metres grading 8.7 grams gold in hole 1; 4.9 metres grading 4.1 grams in hole 2; 14 metres grading 3.4 grams in hole 3 and; 4.5 metres grading 8.8 grams in hole 4.
The first three holes, drilled to a maximum depth of 17 metres, were collared at 25-metre intervals in the discovery trench. Hole 4 tested the vein in a trench 100 metres to the southeast.
About 100 metres northwest of the dicovery, a third trench returned two sections of quartz vein, one of which averaged 1.82 grams gold over 9.6 metres; the other, 10.3 grams over 10 metres.
CaribGold believes the vein structure has a potential strike length of 1.4 km and will continue trenching and drilling. The junior also plans to move a large drill to South Elena once a 1,500-metre program on the company ‘s Sigua prospect is complete.
