Vancouver — The latest drill results from the Tambor gold property in Guatemala have yielded only low-grade values for junior Radius Explorations (RDU-V).
Part of a 2,500-metre diamond and reverse-circulation drill program, five of the eight holes into the Sastre zone yielded narrow zones of low-grade mineralization in a flat-lying zone in amphibolite-hosted wall rock.
Only three of the holes managed to return grades higher than 1 gram gold per tonne.
Hole 2 returned 1.3 grams gold per tonne over 3.1 metres from 33.5 metres down-hole.
Hole 3 yielded 1.49 grams gold over 6.1 metres from 18.3 metres down-hole.
Hole 5 cut 1.3 grams gold over 1.5 metre from 10.7 metres down-hole.
Based on the results, no further work is being considered at this zone.
Two additional holes have been completed on the Bridge zone. Both cut carbonaceous black shales hosting minor sulphides similar in appearance to those cut at the nearby Lupita zone. Assay results are pending.
The drilling has stopped. It will resume after a short break, as dictated by the drilling contract.
Over the past year, Radius has assessed the grade and geometry of five known gold zones — Sastre, Bridge, Lupita, Valery and TBS. They are situated in a 6-km-long gold-in-soil geochemical anomaly.
