Seafield hits golden Jubilee

Unlisted Seafield Resources has intersected significant gold on its Elora property, 55 km south of Dryden, Ont.

Eight holes tested the Jubilee zone, and in four of these, gold was intersected at down-hole depths of 38-78 metres. Highlights include 0.37 metre grading 178.9 grams gold per tonne, 0.67 metre of 28.5 grams gold, 0.95 metre of 14.9 grams, and 0.89 metre of 13.53 grams. Visible gold was noted. The four other holes intersected 0.49-14.5 grams gold over 0.15-2.9 metres.

Three of the holes were drilled south of earlier drilling and succeeded in expanding the extent of the zone.

Gold mineralizaton is associated with quartz veining, adjacent to felsite dykes along the contact of volcanic rock with metasediments. Intermediate-to-felsic tuff trends north-northeast along a 1.5-km strike length.

The Jubilee mine was first developed in the late 1800s; by 1898, a shaft had been sunk to 18.9 metres, with 21 metres of drifting on the 15-metre-level. In the late 1930s, the mine saw minor production, with ore trucked to the nearby Laurentian mill. In total, the mine produced 1,370 oz. gold and 296 oz. silver from 12,486 tonnes of ore.

The Elora property comprises 12 patented mining claims at the northeastern end of Upper Manitou Lake, in the Boyer Lake area.
