Highlights from the ongoing program include:
— 16.7 metres grading 2.5 grams gold per tonne beginning at a down-hole depth of 4.5 metres;
— 3.2 metres grading 15.1 grams gold at a depth of 57 metres, and further down-hole at 70 metres, 1.8 metres grading 19.8 grams gold; and
— 22.8 metres grading 5.8 grams gold at a down-hole depth of 28.6 metres, including 8.4 metres grading 11.5 grams gold.
Other significant results vary from 1.1 to 16.2 grams gold over 1-13.3 metres.
The drilling is being done on the oxide portion of Zone A of the Bakoudou structure. Two gold-bearing sub-parallel quartz veins are being drilled; the upper vein has a true width of up to 16.6 metres. The veins dip at 20 to the west-southwest.
Visible gold has been observed in the core from numerous drill holes. It occurs primarily as gold flakes, but occasionally is within late fractures. The veins appear to be thickening toward the south.
Mining consultant Met-Chem Canada is supervising infill drilling and will prepare a resource estimate. Eighty-two holes are planned for the 5,000-metre program, and 50 have been completed.
In addition, a soil geochemical survey has tested a 2-km extension of the Bakoudou toward the northeast. Assays are pending.
