Vancouver – An ongoing drill campaign by Selkirk Metals (SLK-V) has expanded the massive sulphide horizon at the Ruddock Creek project near Revelstoke, B.C., while also returning positive results such as 5.37 metres grading 13.68% zinc and 2.5% lead, and 7.39 metres of 14.78% zinc and 3.16% lead.
Selkirk has three drill rigs turning on a continuous basis at the property, but assays are in hand for only seven of the holes drilled to date because of backups in the assaying lab. Other selected assay results from the drill program include: 6.1 metres of 9.81% zinc and 1.92% lead; 6.06 metres of 9.33% zinc and 2.07% lead; 9.76 metres of 5.8% zinc and 1.32% lead; and 6.16 metres of 6.93% zinc and 1.26% lead.
Ruddock Creek was previously explored by several major companies in the 1960s and ’70s, following the discovery of massive sulphide outcrops within a massive sulphide horizon that has since been traced for more than 5 km. The most advanced target is the E Zone, with more recent exploration identifying 12 additional zones of mineralization.
Selkirk’s exploration program is focused on defining and extending the E Zone, and the more recently discovered E Zone Extension and the new Oliver Creek discovery. The E Zone is situated on the eastern end of the massive sulphide horizon and drilling to date has extended the zone to the west, south and north.
Ongoing drilling is aimed at confirming the continuity of the massive sulphide mineralization along strike from surface and testing for extensions, particularly to the west where a previous hole returned 14.05 metres grading 15.79% zinc and 3.33% lead more than 1 km along strike of where the E Zone outcrops.
Drilling of the E Zone area will be followed by drilling of the Oliver Creek discovery, a 1,000-metre-long zinc-lead-silver soil anomaly situated more than 5 km west of and thought to be the western equivalent of the E zone. Surface sampling and hand-trenching of the Oliver Creek discovery returned encouraging results of up to 18.62% zinc, 4.55% lead and 2.7 grams silver across a width of 1.5 metres.
