Quebec Crown-owned Societe Quebecoise d’Exploration Miniere (Soquem) and Consolidated Oasis Resources (ME) report positive drill results from the Fancamp gold property near Chibougamau, Que.
Hole 95-52, drilled to test a 500-metre-long induced-polarization anomaly, intersected a gold-and-sulphide-bearing shear zone which assayed 2.3 grams gold per tonne across 14 metres. Referred to as the 52-zone, it included narrower intercepts of 5.1 metres which averaged 6.1 grams gold, and a 1.2-metre section which averaged 21.9 grams silver per tonne and 1.04% copper. The results have prompted the partners to expand the drill program to 5,000 from 4,000 metres.
