SOURCES AND SINKS IN HYDROTHERMAL SYSTEMS EXPLORATION

Ore deposits require a source of fluids, ligands, and metals as well as a transport system and sink for precipitation in economic concentration. These involve the interplay between magmatic activity, basin development, and tectonics. Understanding the scale of those systems and recognizing where these exist within a paleohydrothermal system one can provide important vectors toward undiscovered resources. This 2-day course will examine the sources and sinks of hydrothermal deposits. The course is aimed at mineral exploration, government, academic and student geologists, and provides an opportunity to meet and exchange data and views with leading researchers in the field.
