Southern Africa identifies pipes

Drilling by Southern Africa Minerals (SAF-T) has identified four kimberlites at its Mosomane concession in Botswana.

The discoveries were made 50 km north of Gaborone, beneath the sands of the Kalahari Desert. The company drilled 70 holes into overburden 2 to 5 metres thick.

One of the bodies is described as a large sill, 4 to 11 metres in thickness, found at a depth of 7 to 9 metres. Another of the structures is described as a wide kimberlite dyke with a strike length of 2.5 km. Drilling is planned to further examine the kimberlite bodies.

Additional indicator-mineral anomalies appear elsewhere on the property, and results of a recent reconnaissance program indicate good potential for further kimberlite discoveries, Southern Africa reports.
