Vancouver — Southwestern Resources (SWG-T) has discovered new high grade zinc oxide mineralization on its Azulcacha prospect near the Accha zinc deposit in Peru.
The Azulcacha prospect is situated about 10 km southwest of Accha and was discovered by trenching the contact between altered limestones and a diorite intrusion. The zone measures about 50 metres wide and currently has a strike length of 300 metres. Further trenching and a soil geochemical survey is planned to attempt to extend the zone along strike.
Highlights from the recent trench results are as follows. The samples represent continuous channel samples from one trench.
- Sample 51694 cut 1.20 metres averaging 13.85% zinc oxide.
- Sample 51695 cut 1.80 metres averaging 12.10% zinc oxide.
- Sample 51696 cut 1.50 metres averaging 20.30% zinc oxide.
- Sample 51697 cut 2.00 metres averaging 17.00% zinc oxide.
- Sample 51698 cut 1.80 metres averaging 11.95% zinc oxide.
- Sample 51699 cut 1.80 metres averaging 16.65% zinc oxide.
The samples were crushed at the ALS Chemex preparation lab in Lima, Peru and sent to the ALS Chemex laboratory in Vancouver.
Southwestern reports that its wholly-owned Accha group of properties hosts an indicated and inferred resource of 9 million tonnes grading 9% zinc. In addition an inferred resource of 20 million tonnes grading 4% zinc and 3% lead has been defined at the Yanqui property.
