Previous work defined an indicated and inferred oxide resource of 9 million tonnes grading 9% zinc. A scoping study indicated that the project had the potential to produce about 75,000 tonnes of zinc cathode per year.
Earlier downdip drilling intersected an interval of 24.5 metres grading 8.8% zinc at a depth of 314.9 metres.
Recent exploration results suggest that these resources could be expanded, Southwestern says.
The latest 10-to-20-hole drill program aims to test several zinc-lead soil anomalies and possible downdip extensions.
A prefeasibility study will be conducted if drill results warrant.
