Dux Machinery Corp.
Dux manufactures both low-profile, end-dump trucks and teledump trucks. The Dux TD-30, for example, is a teledump with an articulated frame and Caterpillar or Deutz diesel powering the machine. It has an extra-large, 4-wheel caliper disc quadruple braking system and single-level steering. The teledump allows for operations in openings with confined back heights.
Its end-dump trucks also have an articulated frame and a dump box that rises to a 75/7ch/ angle. Hydraulics, up and down, control the body return. Typically, the brakes on all wheels are foot-operated, air-over dual hydraulic.
Dux also manufactures a small truck, the DT5 (5-ton), which is used in narrow-vein mines.
Eimco Jarvis Clark
Although Tamrock recently bought the Eimco Jarvis Clark line, Tamrock’s own Toro and Eimco’s haulers are sold separately.
Eimco Jarvis Clark’s jdt line features 4-wheel drive, end-dump trucks with articulated frames and single-lever “stick” steering. The jdts are equipped with either Caterpillar or Deutz diesels.
The company also produces the Eimco Young Buggy line of small trucks. These rigid frame trucks are ideal for smaller mines.
Getman
Getman Corp. manufactures two articulated ore-carriers, the Model 1248-13 and the 644. The 1248 is a 13-ton-capacity truck with a Deutz air-cooled engine, 3-speed full reversing powershift transmission and a dual independent air-over-hydrualic brake system.
Model 644 is a 5-ton carrier with much the same features as the 1248. The engine is again a Deutz and there is a 10/7ch/ oscillating suspension on the engine end axle.
John Clark Inc.
JCI, as it’s known, manufactures three diesel-powered, rubber-tired underground haulers — Models 1304, 1504 and 2604C. The biggest is the 2604C, a 26-to-30-ton, end-dump articulated hauler that features Caterpillar diesels, torque converters and transmissions. (A Deutz diesel is optional. The 2604 has an all Clark drive train.) A swing-out radiator renders the 2604C 3 ft shorter than comparable units. A Caterpillar hydraulic retarder allows operators to maintain engine r.p.m., full steering and speed control on downgrades.
The 1304 (13-ton) and 1504 (15-ton) are similar to the 2604C, but they have half the capacity. J/cI calls the two models its most innovative products. “This haul truck will make ramp haulage much more efficient and economical,” a brochure says.
Tamrock
Tamrock manufactures its 35D, a huge hauler with a dump that is capable of loads from 12.5 to 20 cu m, depending on haulageway grades. This is no turtle of the haulageways, either: the truck can reach speeds of 23 km per hour on a level grade in third gear.
This high-performance, articulated hauler uses a full-power shift Clark transmission with a special lock-up torque converter so that the 12-cylinder Deutz diesel can drive the transmission directly through the converter.
Wagner Mining Equipment
Wagner Mining Equipment Co. manufactures eight sizes of 4-wheel-drive, rear-dump articulated haul trucks ranging in size from its smallest, the 3.3-cu-yd MT-406, to the big 22.5-cu-yd MT-444. Wagner’s haulers feature either a Deutz diesel engine or a Caterpillar diesel.
Wagner also makes the Teletram, large-capacity trucks with telescopic dumpers for low back heights. For example, the dump height on the company’s MT-416 rear dump is 3.9 0m. A comparable Teletram, the MTT-420, can dump with back heights of only 2.4 m. In low back heights the Teletram allows for large-capacity trucks and they cut cycle times, the company says. The MTT-420 ejects its load in 10 seconds, while a comparable end dump requires 15 seconds or more.
VME Americas
Although VME Americas is not noted for supplying Canadian mines with underground haul trucks, the company does have equipment operating beneath the surface. In Australia, for example, two Volvo BM 5350Bs are working underground at a gold mine in the Kalgoorlie area. Vme also has furnished large tunnelling projects with its trucks in Korea, Turkey, Japan and elsewhere.
VME is prepared to make modifications to its existing line of rubber- tired, diesel-powered haul trucks for use underground. The company manufactures 4-wheel-drive and 6-wheel-drive units.
