Infill drilling by
Five holes were sunk in Hill B to test updip projections of mineralization outlined in earlier drilling. The holes were collared 20-30 metres apart and cut the following:
n 10 metres (starting at 9 metres down-hole) grading 5.93 grams per tonne, in hole 113;
n 11 metres (starting at 10 metres) grading 17.31 grams, in hole 114;
n 15 metres (starting at surface) grading 5 grams, in hole 115;
n 8 metres (starting at 5 metres) grading 11.9 grams, in hole 116;
n 10 metres (starting at 5 metres) grading 6.35 grams, in hole 117.
Hill B is one of a series of parallel hills extending in a northerly direction. Together, they comprise the Subriso East zone, which is itself one of three nearby and similar zones occurring at the property.
Mineralization is hosted by sheared Birimian metavolcanics of the Ashanti belt and appears in the form of fine particles of gold in association with disseminated sulphides.
Drilling has now shifted to the Subriso Central and Subriso West zones. Once the program is complete, the results will be incorporated in a resource estimate.
A second rig is being sent to the adjoining Hwini-Butre concession to the south, where nearly 1 million ounces have been outlined. The resource is divided among 6 million tonnes of in situ material averaging 3.79 grams and 5.7 million tonnes of eluvium and reworked surface material averaging 1.14 grams.
Mineralization is associated with shearing in diorite and granodiorite. The shear zones are characterized by quartz-veining and minor sulphide mineralization.
