Steelworkers eye Colomac workers

The United Steelworkers of America have filed an application with the Canada Labour Board to represent 200 workers at the Colomac gold mine of Royal Oak Mines (TSE) in the Northwest Territories.

Colomac, a fly-in/fly-out operation 137 miles north of Yellowknife, resumed production several months ago. It previously operated for about a year under a different owner.

Royal Oak hopes to produce 75,000 oz. gold this year, and to increase that total to 170,000 oz. in 1995.
