Stratabound aims to extend Taylor Brook

Junior Stratabound Minerals (SB-A) continues to develop drill targets on its Taylor Brook base metal property in northern New Brunswick.

The company is exploring the Taylor Brook east extension and the Nepisiguit claim blocks on the 11,680-acre property. Drilling last year identified a massive sulphide zone that returned 3.3 ft. grading 5.18 oz. silver per ton, with 10.72% zinc and 6.22% lead.

The company has completed mapping and prospecting on 104 line km and collected 627 soil and rock samples. In addition, 14 line km of magnetic and electromagnetic (EM) surveys were completed on portions of the existing drill grid.

The soil survey has identified anomalous base metal values in a glacial dispersion fan that extends 1 km down-ice from the Taylor Brook deposit. A second dispersion fan on the eastern grid extension suggests the deposit extends 300 metres beyond boundaries defined by previous surveys. Preliminary mapping and prospecting northwest of the Taylor Brook deposit suggest the host rocks continue beyond an east-west-trending mafic dyke.

In addition, results of a joint federal-provincial government airborne survey were recently released. Two anomalies were found to coincide with the Taylor Brook deposit, while another 21 were identified on the property. The company plans to continue ground surveys to develop targets for a program of trenching and drilling in the autumn.

On the nearby CNE-Captain claims, the government survey identified 63 anomalies, which the company intends to follow up. Elsewhere, Stratabound has completed 2,000 ft. of drilling on the Swan property in British Columbia, and is awaiting assays.

Meanwhile, in north-central New Brunswick, Chapleau Resources (NRI-T) has completed four holes on NovaGold’s Sewell Brook base metal property. Massive sulphides were discovered there during a 1990 drill program, which intersected high-grade lead and zinc (up to 55% combined) over 4.3 ft., and up to 17% copper over 5 ft.

Under the option agreement, the junior must spend $2 million on exploration by 1999 to earn a half interest. Chapleau plans to continue drilling the 247-claim property.
