Strong gold assays have been received by Hemlo Gold Mines from the company’s Eagle River property held under option from Central Crude Ltd. Located in the Mishibishu Lake area west of Wawa, Ont., the property covers a large regional shear zone which was discovered last year. Noranda Exploration, which is the project operator on Hemlo Gold’s behalf, drilled 14 holes in the vicinity of hole 87-9 on the No 8 vein, which cut 7.7 ft grading 1.1 oz gold per ton. Of the 14 holes, eight returned good values and are listed below.
Width Grade Hole (ft) oz Au/t 88-21 2.3 0.54 88-22 6.2 0.57 88-23 3.3 0.05 88-26 3.3 0.43 88-28 8.2 3.22 88-29 2.1 0.18

Drilling has outlined the No 8 zone striking for 3,300 ft. across a dioritic intrusive. The zone ranges in width from 6-60 ft. Gold mineralization is found within a narrower quartz vein system ranging up to 15 ft in width, Central Crude says.
