To mark the imminent closing of the century-old Sullivan lead-zinc mine, near Kimberly, B.C., Cominco has scheduled a series of talks.
The event, scheduled for Nov. 9-10, will also feature tours of underground and surface facilities.

The U.S. energy crisis will be addressed by the Northwest Mining Association at its 107th annual general meeting, slated for Dec. 3-7 in Spokane.
Among the other topics expected to be discussed are diamonds, platinum group metals, international mining, and environmental affairs. Also, a special session will focus on coal, methane, hardrock and industrial minerals.
Exhibitors will make their presentations at the Spokane Convention Center.

Technical sessions at the International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC XXII), slated for Oct. 5-10, 2003, in Cape Town, South Africa, will focus on bio- and hydro-metallurgy, as well as plant design and minerals processing.
The congress has put out a call for papers, the deadline being Jan. 31, 2002. Papers should be between 300-500 words long, and they can be e-mailed to impc@chemeng.uct.ac.za
