Sultan tables Kena resource

Vancouver – An independent resource estimate was provided for the Gold Mountain and Kena Gold zones on Sultan Minerals’ (SUL-V) Kena project near Ymir in southeast British Columbia. The estimate pegs the total contained gold on the Kena property at 381,000 ounces in the measured and indicated, and 386,000 oz. in the inferred resource categories. There appears to be good potential for mineralization adjacent to the blocks as well. More drilling has been recommended for resource expansion in both zones.

Sultan Minerals has a 100% interest in the Kena property which covers 8000 hectares in the Nelson Mining Division. Kinross (K-T) dropped its option to earn an interest in the property last year.

The Gold Mountain mineralized zone is contained within a mixture of intrusive and volcanic rocks. A total of 6,269 drill core sections have been assayed for gold in this zone.

At a cutoff grade of 0.5 grams gold per tonne, the Gold Mountain zone was found to contain measured and indicated resources of 5.49 million tonnes at 1.04 grams gold (184,000 oz.) and inferred resources of 10.7 million tonnes at 0.967 gram gold per tonne (333,000 oz.).The mineralization at Kena comprises higher-grade narrow veins and structures superimposed on lower-grade disseminated mineralization in the intrusives.

The Kena zone contains measured and indicated resources of 6.33 million tonnes at 0.969 gram gold (197,000 oz.) and inferred resources of 1.44 million tonnes at 1.216 grams gold (56,000 oz. gold).

Sultan Minerals is anxious to drill the property with a focus on resource expansion if financing can be arranged. The company emphasized that no drilling has tested the zone between the Kena and Gold Mountain zones which lie about 400 metres apart along the same structural feature.

Other targets slated for drilling include the South Gold zone where a third porphyry gold mineralized zone similar to Kena and Gold Mountain was discovered.
