Easter is nine months away, but Altius Minerals (ALS-S) is busy hunting for eggs in its home province of Newfoundland.
On the Paradise Lake property in Botwood Basin, the junior has identified what it describes as large, angular boulders of quartz veins, breccia and geyserite “eggs,” which are believed to have formed in a near-surface enviornment.
The boulders are adjacent to a large gold-in-till anomaly and occur over an area measuring 1,500 by 500 metres in width. Preliminary sampling of the boulders has identified gold values of 0.42 gram per tonne in geysertie eggs and up to 8.96 grams in vein breccia.
Meanwhile, geological mapping and line-cutting have been completed, and geophysical surveys are in progress on the nearby Moosehead, Aztec, Mustang and Tom Joe properties. Results will be used to select targets for trenching and diamond drilling.
Botwood Basin is reportedly an epithermal gold district that shares geological features with gold districts in Nevada, Queensland and Southeast Asia.
