Sunshine sees sparkle in Argentine play

Channel sampling at the Capricho massive sulphide project in Argentina has resulted in significant values for lead, copper and silver over a horizontal distance of 1,000 metres.

The program, carried out by Sunshine Mining & Refining (SSC-N), consisted of 10 samples, taken perpendicular to the mineralized zone and spaced every 100 metres. Highlights include:

– 8.9 metres grading 83.8 grams silver per tonne, plus 6.4% zinc, 1.4% lead and 1% copper;

– 5.8 metres of 29.7 grams silver, 56% zinc, 1% lead and 1.4% copper;

– 5.7 metres of 14.1 grams silver, 7.9% zinc, 1.8% lead and 0.3% copper; and

– 2.3 metres of 155.4 grams silver, 5.7% zinc, 5.6% lead and 0.2% copper.

Mapping is ongoing, and Sunshine plans to begin core drilling on the west-dipping structure as soon as permits are in-hand.

The company can acquire the 1,000-ha property, in La Rioja province, by paying US$1 million any time in the next three years.

Meanwhile, in Jujuy province, Sunshine is preparing to begin exploring the Aguas Caliente property. The grassroots work will focus on the two known gold-silver targets in preparation for drilling.

The company can earn a 60% stake in Aguas Caliente from Mansfield Minerals (mdr-v) by paying US$1.2 million in cash and spending US$2.5 million on exploration over four years.
