A geophysical survey by Sur American Gold (SUR-A) at its Mina Rica property in western Colombia has outlined a large volume of moderate-To-high resistivity over an area measuring 1,000 by 300 metres.
The survey also detected a moderate-To-strong induced-polarization (IP) anomaly over a 600-by-500-Metre area. The anomaly is believed to extend to a depth of 300 metres from surface. The IP anomaly is coincident with the southern portion of the resistivity anomaly.
Both anomalies are overlain by anomalous gold-in-soil values that often exceed 1 gram gold per tonne. The IP anomaly is in an area containing many abandoned mining tunnels.
The wholly owned, 460-ha project is in a historic mining district within Risaralda province.
Mina Rica is believed to be an epithermal deposit within a porphyry dacite and andesite setting. Mineralization exists in an intensely altered sequence of agglomerates, breccias and tuffs, with widespread pyrite and gold occurring as both disseminated and stockwork mineralization.
In June, Sur American will begin a 5,000-Metre, 15-To-20 hole program of diamond drilling.
