Sur digs gold at Comval

Preliminary trenching by Sur American (SUR-V) has turned up bonanza gold grades at the Comval project in the Eastern Mindanao belt of the Philippines.

Sur is focusing on a large epithermal zone in hopes of outlining a bulk-tonnage deposit. Toward that end, it has discovered 40 structures conducive for metal deposits.

In the Northern area, recent trenching on the Ugpo vein yielded up to 118.7 grams per tonne over 1.8 metres. A second trench, 700 metres to the east, averaged 8.95 grams over 1.1 metres.

The Ugpo vein is exposed for 1.1 km along its trend.

Trenching at the nearby Blajadia vein returned 7.54 grams over 1.5 metres. That vein is exposed at surface for 500 metres.

Meanwhile, in the Central area, the Eliza vein averaged 10 grams over 12 metres. Eliza has been traced at surface for 300 metres.

To the south, in the Batoto area, 2 metres of the St Rafael vein averaged 28.83 grams. The structure actually widens to 10 metres where the sample was taken, but much of the vein was removed two decades ago by small-scale operators.

Mineralization is of the epithermal-type, with all three areas enclosed by an alteration system 15 km long by 3 km wide.

Trenching continues.
