Partners International Mahogany (TSE) and North Lily Mining (NASDAQ) are working to finance installation of a solvent extraction-electrowinning plant at their Tuina open-pit heap-leach project near Calama, Chile.
Mining has ceased temporarily while funding is sought, although leaching is continuing.
Copper precipitate is currently sent to the U.S. for plating and the companies expect operating costs to drop to US56 cents per lb. once the new plant is operable.
