A mining syndicate formed by three companies — GeoNova Explorations (VSE), Freewest Resources (TSE) and Quebec Crown corporation Societe quebecoise d’exploration miniere (Soquem) — will conduct a prospecting campaign in northwestern Quebec.
The syndicate will explore for nickel-copper mineralization similar to that of the Voisey Bay discovery. It will do so by means of a “beep mat,” an instrument used to detect conductive sulphides down to a depth of 1.5 metres below surface.
Once anomalies are detected, the syndicate will carry out blasting and sampling to determine whether the conductor is mineralized.
The syndicate has a budget of $200,000 and expects to sample up to 200 conductors during the 1995 field season.
