Tan Range cuts gold in central Tanzania

Tan Range Exploration (TNX-A) has hit long gold intersections at its Itetemia property in central Tanzania.

An 8-hole, diamond-drill program tested a 200-metre section of the stratabound Golden Horseshoe Reef quartz vein, which is related to an induced-polarization anomaly. All holes ended at a depth of 60 metres in an oxidized zone.

The best results include:

* 21.3 metres (from 32 to 53.3 metres) grading 3.42 grams gold per tonne in hole 18;

* 18.4 metres (from 31.6 to 50 metres) of 6.25 grams gold, including 10 metres (from 33 to 43 metres) of 10.07 grams, in hole 14;

* 13.2 metres (from 34.8 to 48 metres) of 2.05 grams in hole 15; * 20.1 metres (from 30.4 to 50.5 metres) of 5.05 grams, including 8.3 metres (from 35.7 to 44 metres) of 10.27 grams, in hole 12;

* 17 metres (from 36 to 53 metres) of 3.31 grams in hole 13; * 33.3 metres (from 25.3 to 58.6 metres) of 2.76 grams in hole 16; * 9.9 metres (from 48 to 57.9 metres) of 0.96 gram in hole 17; and * 7 metres (from 47 to 54 metres) of 3.05 grams in hole 19.

As well, a fence of reverse-circulation holes was drilled 200 metres west of the last diamond drill hole in order to test the extension of the geophysical anomaly.

The gold mineralization is associated with a graphitic quartz-sulphide horizon occurring at a contact between felsic and intermediate volcanic rock. Within that horizon, gold is found in thin quartz-sulphide veinlets which crosscut the alteration zone.

Further diamond and reverse-circulation drilling is planned for mid-October.

The 181-sq.-km Itetemia property, which adjoins Sutton Resources’ (STT-V) Bulyanhulu gold deposit, is 90%-owned by Vancouver-based Tan Range. The remainder is held by the Tanzanian government.

Tan Range also reports that two diamond drills are actively engaged in infill drilling at its Wyldsdale gold deposit in Swaziland in southern Africa.
