Taylor yields more gold for St Andrew

Results from infill and stepout drilling at the Taylor gold property in the Matheson area of northeastern Ontario continue to impress St Andrew Goldfields (SAS-T).

Nineteen holes were recently drilled in the contiguous Main and Upper West Porphyry zones in an attempt to confirm resource estimates of 2.1 million tonnes grading 9.94 grams gold per tonne. The estimate does not take into account waste dilution and cutting factors, and is based on a cutoff grade of 1.71 grams gold and a minimum assay width of 1.7 metres.

As with previous drilling, several of the new holes intersected two or more zones of mineralization. Gold values varied from 1.8 to 49.3 grams over widths typically ranging between 1 and 2 metres. Among the wider zones intersected were 12.8 metres (from 360.6 to 373.4 metres) of 2.4 grams gold in hole 193 and 13.1 metres of 12.3 grams in hole 182. (Nearly all the gold intersected in hole 182 was contained in only 3 metres of core.) A nearer-to-surface northeastern extension to the Main zone was intersected by hole 199, which cut five separate zones: 1.6 metres (from 201.5 to 203.1 metres) grading 3.5 grams gold; 3 metres (from 274.1 to 277.1 metres) of 9 grams; 14.1 metres (from 312.5 to 326.6 metres) of 6 grams, including 9 metres of 8.5 grams; 1.5 metres (from 328.1 to 329.6 metres) of 4.4 grams; and 4.5 metres (from 382.9 to 387.4 metres) of 5.7 grams.

The newly discovered zone is east of the Main zone and, like the Upper zone, rests on the northern side of the east-westerly trending Taylor fault.

To date, five gold-bearing zones have been identified on the Taylor property, all of which are reported to be open. Drilling continues.
