Drilling has started on the Estrades property in the Casa Berardi area by operator Teck Explorations and joint venture partners Golden Hope Resources and Golden Group Explorations.
The drilling is aimed at getting information for preliminary engineering studies on this gold, silver, zinc and copper property. It will also test for extensions at depth and laterally of a gold zone within the deposit.
The companies say they are optimistic that this gold zone, combined with the high grade base metal mineralization, will provide enough reserves of mineable grade to justify pre-production feasibility studies.
Present geological reserves as calculated by Teck are 2,679,732 tons grading an average of 0.13 oz gold per ton, 3.13 oz silver, 7.39% zinc and 0.08% copper.
Recent diamond drilling on the property had focused in areas outside of the existing mineralized zones where several favorable areas with elevated gold values have been identified. The most significant diamond drill hole is H-129 which returned a 14.7 ft intersection of 0.029 oz gold per ton and a 3.6 ft intersection of 0.16 oz.
The mineralization is assocciated with a fault-breccia zone similar to the Casa Berardi Break, the companies say.
Results of the ongoing program will be released as they become available.
